Nightmares In The Nightfall

“Nightmares in the Nightfall”

his hands have haunted
every nightmare I have had
since they stole away
my self

when I dream
of anything pleasant
my mind punishes me
with thoughts of him

I awaken shaking at night
to the thought
of his hands
around my throat

and lately
despite my begging
only nightmares have come
in the nightfall
